| Information about your publication: | Marco Polo is an online literary & art quarterly. We have four issues per year. We seek original, strong writing for fiction, flash fiction, poetry, prose poems, and lyric essays. We feature author interviews in each issue and profile an artist in each issue as well. We have a section, open to writers and artists, which is devoted to Francois Truffaut. Every issue we also feature a postcard short story contest, encouraging writers to submit a short work of fiction for prize consideration and publication. We are happy to provide a place for writers to submit writing and share their voice with us. |
| What type of submissions you are looking for: | Fiction. Flash fiction. The lyric essay and its myriad forms. Poetry. Prose Poems. We accept writing rom the States and everywhere; we are international in heart and mind. In addition to featuring a Fiction section, an Essay section, and a Poetry section, we include all of these forms of writing in our Francois Truffaut section. Writers may submit as many pieces as they would like when submtting. We accept national submissions by hard copy only. International submssions are welcome and are best sent to us via email. If we accept a piece of writing, we notify the author almost immediately. We encourage original voices. |
| Information on Contests: | Marco Polo has an ongoing postcard ctory contest. We welcome writers to submit a story on the back of a postcard(home-made is fun, store-bought is good too). It’s the story that counts. The winning postcard story is selected and published in the Fiction section in each issue. The author then receives a prize, which can be anything. This time around it’s an album on vinyl or cd, winner’s choice. Next time, who knows, a suitcase, a lamp, a certificate for groceries, whatever seems like something stylish or fun or helpful which someone would appreciate or perhaps need. |
