The Commanauts (DEFUNCT)

Posted on October 30, 2011December 29, 2017 by Every Writer
From interstellar literary clouds comes The Commanauts, a community of writers aiming to defy gravity. A space race in literature founded by author Nick Belardes, you'll explore nonfiction, fiction, and in our Student Works section, you'll discover writings from colleges and universities across America who don't have on-campus zines or print anthologies. And that's not all. Writings will be collected and published once a year in book or magazine form. That's our Space Program at work. More info coming soon. At The Commanauts you'll also find a portal to the Random Writers Workshop. Founded in 2009, this writing workshop is now a collaborative effort from Nick Belardes, Hectic Films, Russo's Books and the CSU Bakersfield OLLI Program. You'll also find a portal to an online CSUB Olli Program Photo Exhibit.

the Aurorean

Posted on October 25, 2011December 16, 2023 by Every Writer
The Aurorean has been featured in Poet?s Market and several-times recommended as a ?Pick? by the prestigious Small Press Review, most recently for its 10th Anniversary Issue (Fall/Winter 2010?2011). SPR has said of the Aurorean: ?a journal that has both high production values and quality poetry ... perfect to elevate you from the dark night of the soul.? In January of 2011, NewPages reviewer Sima Rabinowitz said of our 15th Anniversary Issue: "This little journal will fill you up." Our focus is always poetry of New England, and poetry of the seasons (including haiku) although we are open to other subjects as well. In a world full of angst, we publish poetry that uplifts, inspires, and is meditational, but is not religious or denominational, as we are ever mindful of diversity.

Left Hand Waving (Defunct)

Posted on October 24, 2011April 29, 2023 by Every Writer
The editors of the literary e-zine LEFT HAND WAVING are happy to announce a radical change in their submission guidelines. From now until further notice, we will be accepting poems and creative nonfiction dealing with the hard times, economic and political, that many in the United States and elsewhere are enduring. We see this as our small contribution to the Occupy Wall Street movement. We call it Occupy Poetry (and Other Writing). Submissions must be made through the portal to Submishmash found on our Web site, https://sites.google.com/site/lefthandwaving. Submissions received in any other manner or format will be discarded. Poems should be no more than 20 lines and creative nonfiction no more than 500 words. The editors hope to be surprised by your writing. They place a premium on freshness of language and perspective. They have little patience for the pedantic, dogmatic, or sophomoric. Submissions open Nov. 1, 2011, and continue through Dec. 1 We look forward to reading your work. Really.

Solecisms

Posted on October 23, 2011June 26, 2014 by Every Writer
Solecisms is an online literary magazine with the goal of showcasing the work of writers, regardless of whether their work conforms to certain standards. We hope to grow a community here through our love of creativity, one that will hopefully produce fruitful works of both literature and other mediums. We are a group of individuals who love writing, but find that many of the literary publications out there are more concerned with convention than creativity. In order to remedy this, we banded together to offer a more open sort of literary magazine.

The Zodiac Review

Posted on October 13, 2011October 23, 2017 by Every Writer
The Zodiac Review is a quarterly literary magazine for discerning readers and writers of fine short fiction. Here you will find stories of flash fiction and short story length, each selected quarterly from submissions that cross the old lines separating literary fiction from genre fiction. And here you will find prose poetry, another form of literature that crosses boundaries to tell its stories. Among the many themes and sub-themes you may find in stories here are fate vs. free will, cosmic irony, and some of the many fascinating ways in which astrology is understood by the characters who populate the stories…subjects that expose the inscrutability of the universe and the poignancy of the human condition.

THRUSH Poetry Journal

Posted on October 5, 2011October 12, 2011 by Every Writer
Why the name THRUSH? Thrushes are a species of bird, the songs of some considered to be among the most beautiful in the world. We love that and that is how we feel about poems. Why is THRUSH only poetry? We love fiction, and read it often. We feel there are many beautiful journals we admire that offer prose. Our passion is poetry.
