The Cossack Review
From the Editor
Founded in 2012, The Cossack Review is an independent literary magazine with a focus on work that is thoughtful, observant, and persistent. We read work year-round for our print and web issues. Our editors are Christine Gosnay, Robert Long Foreman, Ruben Quesada, and Brian Kornell. Our authors include Dan O’Brien, Afaa Michael Weaver, Éireann Lorsung, John Poch, Jaime Green, Cynthia Manick, Paul Lisicky, Shane Velez, Brian Simoneau, Soren Gauger, and J. Bowers. Contributors range from writers with no previous publications to award-winning authors. In addition to new writing, we publish an interview series called 5 Questions for Poets in every issue. Participants include D.A. Powell, Matthew Zapruder, Troy Jollimore, Melissa Stein, Phillip B. Williams, Sara Eliza Johnson. We also recommend books that are timely and excellent in each issue. Our editors nominate writers for the Pushcart Prize, Best of the Net, and more.
Our goal is to print good fiction, nonfiction, poetry, and works in translation from diverse authors, whether new or established. We have no style in mind. Our editorial focus is on quality and on the writer’s commitment to his or her approach.
We are reading submissions for Issue #5, and for our next web issue.
