About the Publisher.<\/b><\/p>\n

\"blackscat\"Based in the Bay Area, Black Scat Books is an independent small publisher specializing in eccentric works by artists and writers in the U.S. and Europe. In addition to hardcover and paperback books, we issue limited edition chapbooks in our Absurdist Texts & Documents series. We publish artist’s books, Dada, Pataphysics, photography, satire, black humour, avant-garde & experimental fiction. In this deadly digital age with sales of printed books plummeting and independent booksellers biting the dust, our goal is to buck the trend and publish works shunned by an increasingly timid (albeit crippled) industry. That is to say, we produce physical books that bookworms will want to own, save, and collect. Black Scat books are unique, collectible, and environmentally friendly. All our titles are manufactured-on-demand, producing beautifully designed books as they’re ordered. This eliminates excess production and unsold remaindered copies. Our printer uses chlorine-free ink and high-quality acid-free interior paper stock supplied by a Forest Stewardship Council-certified provider. Our editions are crafted to last and printed on cream paper made from 30% post-consumer waste recycled material.<\/span><\/p>\n

Submissions<\/b>:\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Now accepting manuscripts for TYPO #12: Deadline: OCT. 15, 2025. Our deadlines usually close earlier than announced, so it’s best to submit sooner than later. For manuscript submissions, we prefer Word doc\/docx format with a length of 1,500+ words (negotiable). All manuscripts must contain the author’s name and email address, and artwork file names must include the creator’s name. We acquire first rights only, with all rights reverting to the contributor. For artwork, we accept high resolution (300 dpi) black & white\/grayscale images in JPEG, TIFF, or PNG formats, with page size being 6 x 9 inches. Translations require proof of permission or public domain status. Response time is less than two weeks. Previously published material and simultaneous submissions are not considered. Email submissions to: typo_journal@icloud.com with “TYPO 12” in the subject line. Since we don’t charge a reading fee, we expect potential contributors to purchase and read an issue before submitting.<\/span><\/p>\n
