From the Editor<\/span><\/p>\n Submissions<\/span><\/p>\n We will be accepting submissions for High Noon from February 12th to March 18th. Responses will be given on a rolling basis, with final notice no later than April 2nd. In terms of what we are looking for, we are accepting fiction and nonfiction stories up to 3,000 words, as well as poetry and art up to one page. We will accept multiple and simultaneous submissions. Excerpts and flash fiction are fine but must read as a stand-alone work. All pieces should be typed in a standard, legible 12pt font (no comic sans!) with double-spacing and 1-inch margins all around. Prose may be submitted in .pdf or .docx format, and art in .pdf or .jpg format. Please include your name or pen name (no inappropriate ones, please!) at the end of the submission, and nowhere else on the piece. All submissions must be somehow related to our mission statement. Please read the guidelines thoroughly before submitting to High Noon via email at tuhighnoon@gmail.com. Submissions that do not follow guidelines will be automatically rejected without being read. Please send us your best work, whatever that may be! Set our hearts racing, surprise us, and tell a good story. High Noon is Trinity University’s new student-run literary journal. We founded this journal in 2019 with the hopes of reaching and connecting with an audience of people from all backgrounds. Our journal brings so much to our university in terms of the values of experiential learning, critical thinking, and creativity. High Noon\u2019s purpose is to provide a platform for creative works that embody the defining moments in our lives when we started becoming who we are today, whether it was a brief flash or a long journey. We aim to provide a space to share about a time of personal high noon when our future confronted our past. Imagine, It is midday. The sun is at its peak, the turning point, the transition of day. Two figures ascend a dusty hill. They take a stance across from each other as mirror images. Each puts a hand on their weapon\u2014past versus present. Draw. Bang. Who emerges from the dust? This is why we call ourselves High Noon. As young college students, many of our high noons involve coming-of-age stories. But a high noon can be any challenge that begets change\u2014for better or for worse. We want to look at moments in people\u2019s lives that make their past selves confront their present and change who they become. These events could be a moment of personal growth, a crisis of identity, a major turning point. A high noon comes in many forms, happens at any time, and can occur more than once during a person\u2019s life. When was your high noon? And how did it change you? High Noon is timeless; coming of age looks different for everyone. The threads of our experiences criss-cross in different, often unexpected ways. We celebrate the differences in our stories and discover the little details that make us realize we are not alone. We are committed to creating a sense of community and to representing literary voices from all backgrounds, regardless of credentials.
