From the Editor<\/h3>\n
Ripple Lit is an online literary magazine creating conversation around the environment. In each issue we publish artistic responses to climate change and environmental art. This includes everything from pieces focused on climate justice to those that use environmental elements throughout the piece. Our issues look at the vast topic of the environment through all angles. The way in which a submission incorporates the environment is factored into whether it is accepted, so please be sure to include environmental elements. However, feel free to get creative! We also focus on building a community of young writers and environmental activists from all over the globe. Our issues highlight the voices of these young writers and artists (ages 13 to 21), but we also give access to writing resources through our free summer writing classes and email list. We also give a couple points of positive feedback to each submitter to encourage new writers in their career (we understand if you want criticism, but simply don\u2019t have the resources!). Just like our students and submitters, the Ripple team is scattered across the globe, but we\u2019re united by our love of art and writing, our goals of creating community and supporting writer\u2019s journeys, and our passion for environmental issues. We also highlight the connection between writing and the environment through our blog, where you can find informative posts about our issue themes. Each issue has a theme; the theme for this issue is \u201cChange.\u201d Sticking to the theme is not necessary for publication in an issue. Instead, the purpose of the theme is to inspire writers and artists and make each of our issues unique. The theme is meant to be very broad and can be interpreted metaphorically or literally. We\u2019re looking for pieces that incorporate the environment in unique and interesting ways. We want to hear everything from your appreciation for local nature to your anger about the climate crisis. We can\u2019t wait to see what you submit!<\/p>\n
Submissions<\/h3>\n
We\u2019re looking for submissions of poetry, fiction, creative non-fiction, and art exploring the vast topic of the environment. This can include incorporating nature in a fiction story, writing a poem about a part of your local environment, creating a piece that calls the reader to action to fight the climate crisis, and so much more. Submissions are open to writers and artists between the ages of 13 and 21. Poems have a limit of 100 lines and prose has a limit of 2000 words, and submitters may submit up to 3 pieces per issue. Simultaneous submissions are accepted, but please let us know if your submission is published elsewhere! Submit by filling out the form at https:\/\/ripplelit.org\/submit. Please be sure to include any pertinent trigger warnings for your piece. It is also not required to stick to the issue theme in your submission, and whether or not your piece relates to the theme will not be considered when your piece is being evaluated.<\/p>\n
