We publish work online as well as in an annual print anthology.<\/p>\n<p>From the site: Twice a year TIMBER publishes a selection of prose, poetry, and visual text-work, along with rolling interviews and reviews with contemporary writers and artists. We believe in taking raw materials and building something beyond the expected.<\/p>\n<p>Run by the MFA candidates out of the University of Colorado-Boulder, we value work which pushes against boundaries: genre-bend, build or break form, confront the rules and voices of the canon. If you\u2019re not flirting with failure or writing risky, it\u2019s probably not for us.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 18pt;\">Submission<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Timber is a literary journal dedicated to the promotion of innovative literature whatever that means. Our interpretation of that word innovative is rather unsettled, and tends to evolve along with our editorial staff. In general though, we like work that seeks to explore the boundaries of poetry and fiction. Make of that what you will.<\/p>\n<p>We accept fiction, creative nonfiction, poetry, and text-based visuals. We especially want to see your experimental and hybrid concoctions. Hopefully, you\u2019ve familiarized yourself with the journal and checked in about what experimentation means to us. Beyond that, we look for work that feels urgent and arresting, precise and nuanced. If you\u2019re submitting under a prose category, keep in mind that we prefer experimentation which retains a strong narrative aspect.
