From the Editor<\/h2>\n

HelloHorror is a recently created online literary journal and blog. The primary motivation behind our publication’s existence? The current saturation of gore and shock value in the horror we see and read today. A story that gives you goose bumps is a much greater achievement than a story that just grosses you out. We have television for that. The true challenge is bringing about real, psychological fear to an audience that is persistently more and more numb to its face value tactics. You may find blood, guts and gore in the pages of our selected works, but most importantly, you will find true fear.<\/p>\n

Submissions<\/h2>\n

HelloHorror accepts works of fiction, non-fiction, micro-fiction, poetry, photography, visual art and film. All entries must be in English. Translations are acceptable and should be accompanied by a copy of the original text. While we entertain most works associated with the genre, please keep in mind that our goal is to offer something new within the genre with a focus on the psychological aspects of horror.<\/p>\n

Tell us about upcoming events or contests We are currently poring through submissions of all kinds, but we would like to see an uptick in non-nonfiction and visual submissions. Please check out our double sized, Halloween issue in October to get an idea of what we’re looking for. You can follow us on Tumblr ( blog.hellohorror.com ) or on Twitter ( @hellohorrorlit ) for updates on issue release dates.<\/p>\n

Short Stories: As this is our optimal literary type, we don?t want to be too constricting. The ideal short story should be about six to eight pages but we will consider longer works and are even open to discussing the serialization of very long works.<\/span><\/p>\n

Micro Shorts \/ Flash Fiction: Flash Fiction is generally thought of as being 600 words or less. If your piece is longer, it will simply be published as a short story.<\/span><\/p>\n

Poetry: We are open to all styles of poetry, however please consider the length guidelines that we have suggested for short stories when submitting longer pieces.<\/span><\/p>\n

Photography\/Visual Arts: Please submit no more than five images of your work with an artist statement. Though we strongly believe in freedom of expression, we ask is that you read the section to the left considering what we have to say about the genre before submission.<\/span><\/p>\n
