From the Editor<\/h2>\n

Each year The Masters Review publishes a ten-story collection showcasing the best in graduate-level creative writing. Our editors and judges select the ten best stories written by students in MA, MFA, and PhD creative writing programs and publish that work for distribution across the country. Our aim in producing this collection is to expose progressive, diverse, and well-crafted writing to agents, editors, and readers. Additionally, we publish stories online on a rolling basis in our New Voices category. We also see The Masters Review as a resource for emerging writers. We provide readers with insight into the publishing process, helpful articles and tips for new authors, links to upcoming contests and deadlines, information on where you can submit short stories, MFA program profiles, information on various writing programs, and interviews with agents and publishing companies all through our blog.<\/p>\n

Submissions<\/h2>\n

The Masters Review has two submission categories. The first is a select reading period open from January 1 \u2013 March 31, and is only open to students currently enrolled in MA, MFA, or PhD creative writing programs. This submission category is for our printed anthology, and includes fiction and creative nonfiction up to 7,000 words. Each year a guest judge selects the top ten stories from our shortlist. In past years we have worked with judges Lauren Groff and AM Homes. This year\u2019s judge is bestselling author and Time book critic, Lev Grossman. To learn more about the review and our story selection process, please see our submissions page. Our second submission category is New Voices. New Voices is open year round and is available to any writer who has not produced a published work of fiction or narrative nonfiction of novel length. New Voices submissions are only published online.<\/p>\n
