Life is Precious<\/span><\/p>\n by William Wiggins<\/p>\n Even as the night sighs, Life\u2014it\u2019s still here. But when there\u2019s no more deer on the hill Nodding, I\u2019d like to imagine Some galloping, sweating with pride; Or bees, buzzing by the flowers Or even, just the woman. ###<\/p>\n William Wiggins is an African American writer who is currently pursuing his Master’s in Psychology at the University of Cincinnati in Cincinnati, Ohio. \nI am enamored by the silence
\nof the trees. The leaves sleep
\nin the air as the boys
\nhuddle closely together,
\nwhispering of their fathers.
\nFireflies hover in place
\naround us, barely glistening
\nas a woman rests her eyes
\nbedded with if.<\/p>\n
\nSometimes I forget.<\/p>\n
\nor birds in the bush, we know they\u2019re still,
\ntoo. Gone, but there. Waiting. Tomorrow,
\nthe sun will rise, kissing the earth awake
\nand we\u2019ll thank her with our being, our eating.<\/p>\n
\nthat there will be horses.<\/p>\n
\nsome sitting with the foal near the trees.
\nA gentle heat sliding through the leaves.<\/p>\n
\nas the boys sway in the field.
\nOne humming, the other singing.<\/p>\n
\nSitting in the grass, shining.
