So black, so blue<br \/>\nblack alive, emotionally blue.<\/p>\n<p>Sometimes like a fresh road, after the rain,<br \/>\nspellbinding every periwinkle and<br \/>\nsometimes imitating a baffled bluebird<\/p>\n<p>he has had the blues so, so often that<br \/>\nhe never listens to the blues and<br \/>\nhis eyes have long gone into his<br \/>\nsocks that smell of cheap cigarettes.<\/p>\n<p>On his neighbors lips are perched<br \/>\nblack curses that threaten to recreate<br \/>\nhim every day, and his disloyal wife&#8217;s<br \/>\nhair flies in the wind in such a way<br \/>\nthat she might inspire him into frothing<br \/>\nhimself off some mossy cliff, any time<br \/>\non one of those moonlit, blue nights.<\/p>\n<p>He&#8217;ll never understand that he&#8217;s<br \/>\nthe symbol of a country losing itself<br \/>\nbecause of people like him.<\/p>\n<p>###<\/p>\n<p>Born in 1983, Amit Parmessur lives with his black cat nowadays. Since 2010, his poems have appeared in more than 100 literary magazines. His book on blog Lord Shiva and other poems has also been published by The Camel Saloon. He is nominated for the Pushcart Award and lives in Quatre-Bornes, Mauritius.
