Thielman<\/p>\n<p>The rust iron wing of a train horn<br \/>\npinballs down glass and steel canyons,<\/p>\n<p>headlights sweep our shadows past<br \/>\na mural, circle of hands touching hands<\/p>\n<p>of all colors, framed by two whales<br \/>\nplanting songs in a darkening current.<\/p>\n<p>The hope of public art not altering realities<br \/>\nas sirens thorn over a nearby avenue.<br \/>\nThe dark boas of city streets hours<br \/>\nfrom releasing gray dawn, this jazz joint<\/p>\n<p>in full hop and bop, opening door<br \/>\nreleasing a river of sax notes plying drum<\/p>\n<p>and piano rhythms as the current<br \/>\nrivulets over iron-mesh caught rocks.<br \/>\nHot mist catches streetlight yellow<br \/>\nen route to swirl above drain grates,<\/p>\n<p>my veins filling with inks and colors<br \/>\nfor page and canvas as I shoulder inside<\/p>\n<p>a jazz solo, guitarist picking through what<br \/>\naches after my work-week of unloading trucks.<\/p>\n<p>###<br \/>\nRaised in Charleston, S.C., and Chicago, educated at red-bricked universities and on city streets, Charles has worked as a youth counselor, truck driver, city bus driver and enthused bookstore clerk.<\/p>\n<p>Married on a Kauai beach in 2011, a loving Grandfather for five free spirits, Charles inspired work as Poet, Artiste and shareholder in an independent Bookstore&#8217;s collective continues!
