How to Lose a Friend<\/h1>\n

If we were blokes, the crime would be cancelled
\nwith punch up and pint.
\nBut in a Bluewater coffee shop
\nyour PhD brain sinks too deep a shaft for my shallow poem.
\nThe tribute of Maria Antoinette wedge wood figurine
\nmisinterpreted not as a beauty but a bitch.
\nI’m a little bit offended grows like an aggressive cancer
\nin shoe shops as you examine brogues,
\nwhilst I try to scratch out the evidence with blunt excuses.
\nDelivering you home, I feel a cold draft
\nas you slam the car door against me.
\nMonths tallying your phone silence,
\ndeterred from calling myself by the guard- dog husband.
\nThen at Christmas a Best wishes from the family.
\nNow, the merest jolt triggers memories of
\nhigh heels and hats for twin birthday treats,
\na phone call at 8.30 stirs false hope,
\nfluffy cardy on a clothes rail prompts Oh she would like this.
\nDespite heart to hearts with a new friend,
\nand raucous nights out with another,
\nI find that there is no under-study for your friendship.<\/p>\n
