The highest peak
\nKanchanjungha
\nlooks from India
\nsilver-white, radiant<\/p>\n

Snow-covered Himalaya
\nwakes up with sunrise
\nturns gigantic
\nOne morning I saw
\nthe dawn from Tiger Hills<\/p>\n

Severe waiting
\nThe recurrence of rays
\nintermittently
\nThe Sun shrouded in misty clouds
\nappears all of a sudden
\nradiates all-over the valley<\/p>\n

Tall trees
\nVast greenery
\nA Tibetan Refugee Camp
\nThe hands of women knitting carpets<\/p>\n

Children quaffing their noses
\nMonks praying with beads
\nPreacher lama
\nThis too a tourist place
\nin Darjeeling<\/p>\n

The sound of a Tibetan song
\nThe emotions in exile
\nThe Sun is going down
\nDusk is falling
\nThe Sun sets

\nShailendra Chauhan (b 1954) is a Bachelor of Electrical Engineering. He works as Deputy General Manager in a Public Sector Undertaking of Govt. of India. He writes poems, short stories, criticism of Hindi literature as well in English. His published works are:
