Ways of Speaking<\/h2>\n

I\u2019m weary of those who talk
\nin slogans stamped and packed
\nby someone else, like
\nlong distance truckers paid to drive
\nwithout knowing the weight
\nhauled onto that dark highway.<\/p>\n

I want to walk, instead
\nwhere I can read the body\u2019s slow knowing.
\nWhere each thing watched long speaks aloud.<\/p>\n

A spider tossed by the breeze casts
\none strand thin as faith. As it takes hold
\nshe dances between twigs and waits
\nwithin a design both beginning and end.
\nWhen the web breaks she starts again
\ntiny legs speaking in ways
\nwe\u2019re meant to hear.<\/p>\n

\nLaura Grace Weldon lives on Bit of Earth Farm where she’s an editor, nonviolence educator, and marginally useful farm wench.
