Have you seen my gray today?
\nThe melding of darkness and light;
\nan absence of color at play.<\/p>\n

A cameo profile for pay
\nwith stark shades from shadow to bright.
\nHave you seen my gray today?<\/p>\n

Do I know if in daylight I stray?
\nOr if blindly I melt in the night?
\nAn absence of color at play.<\/p>\n

The stupor from nocturnal fray
\nconcussed like a nightmarish bite.
\nHave you seen my gray today?<\/p>\n

Imagine an infinite ray
\npiercing blackness with one point in sight;
\nan absence of color at play.<\/p>\n

My ship will be sailing away
\non horizons that fog and unite.
\nHave you seen my gray today?

\nShari Jo LeKane-Yentumi lives in St. Louis, Missouri, where she writes poetry, prose and articles; specializes in literary criticism and non-profit matters. She has a B.A. in English, Spanish, and an M.A. in Spanish from Saint Louis University in Madrid and St. Louis. Since brain surgery, she volunteer teaches creative writing in a maximum security jail and works for civil rights attorneys.
