Tulips in Snowmelt<\/h1>\n

Evening, early solstice\u2014the greater
\nof two lights reflects on adding day spin
\nto the sun; still ruminant and in the dark
\nabout the weather. A single Texas<\/p>\n

rosebush awaits her yellow ribbons,
\nand that first dance beside a sipping
\nstream. I am not a warrior poet\u2014
\nmusicians are passive men\u2014byline<\/p>\n

silhouettes with twenty-dollar bills
\nand slices of frozen pizza. I will not offer
\nyou vinegar on a sponge at the point
\nof a spear, or track your rem sleep<\/p>\n

from sleuth shadows. There are trimmed
\ncandles in my pocket. I plant tulip bulbs
\nin snowmelt. Oaths are like psalms.
\nFlesh is never weak that wets a finger<\/p>\n

in the wind to divine a way to share one
\nanother\u2019s burdens\u2014death can only break
\nthe vows we pledge to let it part.<\/p>\n
