I\u2019ll bring the chips.<\/p>\n<p>I watched her run up from the water laughing.<br \/>\nAs I write this her name comes back to me: Yvonne.<br \/>\nFresh from her swim she stood close to the fire<br \/>\nin her tiny yellow bikini<br \/>\ndrying her waist-length sheet of onyx-colored hair with a towel.<\/p>\n<p>She seemed so utterly assured of herself in the task at hand,<br \/>\nso composed for a young girl,<br \/>\ntossing her head languidly from side to side<br \/>\nthen taking a large hounds tooth comb and slowly pulling it through<br \/>\nthat glorious hair of hers.<\/p>\n<p>She must have known we all followed her every move,<br \/>\ncouldn\u2019t help but know it by the silence<br \/>\nthat had enveloped her ritual,<br \/>\nthe flames casting an unreal glow on that hair,<br \/>\nthat perfect form and face.<\/p>\n<p>The men particularly stared in awe<br \/>\nat this goddess from Okinawa who\u2019d ended up<br \/>\nin our backwater of all places,<br \/>\nin their midst.<\/p>\n<p>I watched the men\u2019s faces watching her<br \/>\nthat night,<br \/>\nknowing even at 16 I would never possess the audacity<br \/>\nthat was Miss Yvonne Tsubone\u2019s that night,<br \/>\nand for as long as it lasted,<br \/>\nthat which comes from sheer and absolute physical beauty,<br \/>\na calling card that says,<br \/>\nwithout words:<br \/>\nI am perfect just as I am:<br \/>\nwhat I am is<br \/>\nenough.<\/p>\n<p>###<\/p>\n<p>Tricia McCallum, a Glasgow-born Canadian, is an award-winning writer and poet and prolific Huffington Post Blogger.
