Come sleep,
\nbe my ally.
\nBetter an unwilling alliance,
\nthan to stand alone.<\/p>\n

And don\u2019t leave me with the morning.<\/p>\n

The night brings me stars,
\nmaybe a million strangers.
\nAnd the day?
\nNothing.
\nBut one iridescent sun.<\/p>\n

Come sleep,
\nally with me.
\nAlly roughly,
\nif I make you angry.<\/p>\n

Be a reluctant lover.
\nRefuse to be wooed,
\ninto my selfish love.<\/p>\n

I mean nothing,
\nof my spoken words.
\nI am faithless,
\nwhen awake.<\/p>\n

Come sleep,
\nally with me.<\/p>\n

She studied at the School of Oriental and African Studies in London and Lady Shri Ram College for Women, New Delhi. She lives in Norwich in England and Mumbai in India, and travels extensively.
