What the Onion Teaches<\/h2>\n

Anything, seen wholly,
\nteaches everything.
\nTake a raw onion, harsh to its core.
\nUnpeel, unring, and hold to the light.
\nIt is complete
\nas the soil, sun, and rain of its making.
\nSaut\u00e9 the rings in oil
\ntill the onion relaxes into itself,
\nelevating everything added next.<\/p>\n

This looking, this warmth, and trust
\nis how the prisoner finds Shakespeare,
\nthe lonely child discovers trees,
\nthe battered woman pulls away layers
\nready to be seen.<\/p>\n
