untraveled tracts.
\namong the shadows
\nI tread spongy turf
\nwalk with care<\/p>\n

take me into the windbreak
\nbeside the shed
\npast the steel wheeled cultivator
\nplowed to a stop
\nin the pine needles
\nlead me down the path
\nof broken branches<\/p>\n

the shed\u2019s rain-made trough
\nleads to the equipment graveyard
\nI climb the sunken feed grinder
\nsurvey the fields<\/p>\n

Thomas Cannon’s story about his son is the lead story in the anthology Cup of Comfort for Parents of Children with Autism<\/em>. He also has his humorous novel The Tao of Apathy<\/em> available on Amazon. His poems and short stories have been published in many print and electronic journals.
