They are dried<br \/>\nbeyond the escape of rot<br \/>\nand disintegration. The people\u2019s<br \/>\nagrieved histores are not theirs,<br \/>\nexactly, but are appropriated<br \/>\nfrom their dead. These tales<br \/>\nhave a bitter sheen like a highly<br \/>\npolished and poisoned apple,<br \/>\na temptation. This is how<br \/>\nwe push death back. We are too<br \/>\nangry to recognize her on the road.<br \/>\nWe demand compensation<br \/>\nbefore we die.
