Weep Willow Reeds<\/h2>\n

After rain
\nthe earth has forgotten
\nwhere it keeps you.
\nBut I disturb my pocket
\nand retrieve a flute
\nfrom the dark hollow
\nI have dug with greedy fingers.
\nBone-white,
\nfor it is bone\u2014
\nyour bone\u2014
\nthat I have carved
\nto go deedle deedle dee.
\nDay to day
\nI sit under a tree,
\nits branches tangled
\nleaves overhanging and shielding,
\nand cast my voice
\nthrough this porcelain reed:
\nour past replaying.
\nRound and round
\nthe song breathes
\nlives as my blown needles
\nscrape and leak
\neach spinning memory.
\nAnd yet
\nI wonder
\nwill there be anyone
\nto play a tune
\nfor me?<\/p>\n

Born in Krasnoyarsk, Russia, Konstantin studies British & American Literature and Creative Writing at The University of Kent in Canterbury, England. He has been published by The Claremont Review, Four Ties Lit Review, AOM, and has won the ZO Magazine Silver Prize for Poetry<\/em>, and is currently a Review Assistant for Newfound.
