THE WITCHES (for older children)<\/p>\n
In the dark forest under the haze
\nabsent the moon\u2019s silvery rays,
\nwhen the night is black and still
\nthe witches hold a blackbird\u2019s quill.<\/p>\n
They, merrily, jot down names
\nof naughty children
\nto beat them with disdain.
\nTheir greenish eyes are frightful,
\ntheir ghostly hair quite dreadful.<\/p>\n
They boil the bones of forest owls,
\nof hairy rats and ugly fowl,
\nin a large caldron as they cackle,
\n\u201cAbracadabra, dung of a zebra,\u201d
\nas Apollo rises from the shadows.<\/p>\n
They cast their spells with horrid chants.
\nrousing frogs, toads and bats,
\nThey aim to turn errant children,
\ninto legions of moles and rats.<\/p>\n
On guard, child, the witches prowl
\nand cast the spells I\u2019d hate to see,
\nand in the morning, as you shower,
\nif you\u2019re not careful, a toad you\u2019ll be.<\/p>\n

LAS BRUJAS (para ni\u00f1os grandes)<\/p>\n
Es en el monte bajo la bruma,
\ndonde no hay rastro de clara luna,
\nen lo m\u00e1s negro de la negrura,
\nest\u00e1n las brujas con una pluma.<\/p>\n
Anotan, locas, los ni\u00f1os malos
\npara en la noche darles de palos.
\nTienen los ojos verdes y raros
\ny los cabellos grises y ralos.<\/p>\n
En una olla cuecen los huesos
\nde aves nocturnas de feo gesto;
\n\u201cAbracadabra, barbas de cabra\u201d
\ncantan las brujas venida el alba.<\/p>\n
Encantar piensan a los incautos,
\nhipnotizando con su feo canto.
\nRanas y sapos de ni\u00f1os malos
\npiensan hacerlos para su da\u00f1o.<\/p>\n
Cu\u00eddate, nene, que vienen brujas
\na tu camita donde te arrullan
\ny en la ma\u00f1ana cuando te duchas
