Upon A Spider Catching A Fly<\/p>\n

Thou sorrow, venom Elfe:
\nIs this thy play,
\nTo spin a web out of thyselfe
\nTo Catch a Fly?
\nFor Why?<\/p>\n

I saw a pettish wasp
\nFall foule therein:
\nWhom yet thy Whorle pins did not clasp
\nLest he should fling
\nHis sting.<\/p>\n

But as affraid, remote
\nDidst stand hereat,
\nAnd with thy little fingers stroke
\nAnd gently tap
\nHis back.<\/p>\n

Thus gently him didst treate
\nLest he should pet,
\nAnd in a froppish, aspish heate
\nShould greatly fret
\nThy net.<\/p>\n

Whereas the silly Fly,
\nCaught by its leg
\nThou by the throate tookst hastily
\nAnd ?hinde the head
\nBite Dead.<\/p>\n

This goes to pot, that not
\nNature doth call.
\nStrive not above what strength hath got,
\nLest in the brawle
\nThou fall.<\/p>\n

This Frey seems thus to us.
\nHells Spider gets
\nHis intrails spun to whip Cords thus
\nAnd wove to nets
\nAnd sets.<\/p>\n

To tangle Adams race
\nIn?s stratigems
\nTo their Destructions, spoil?d, made base
\nBy venom things,
\nDamn?d Sins.<\/p>\n

But mighty, Gracious Lord
\nCommunicate
\nThy Grace to breake the Cord, afford
\nUs Glorys Gate
\nAnd State.<\/p>\n

We’l Nightingaile sing like
\nWhen pearcht on high
\nIn Glories Cage, thy glory, bright,
\nAnd thankfully,
