The faint stars wake and wonder,
\nFade and find heart anew;
\nAbove us and far under
\nSphereth the watchful blue.<\/p>\n

Silent she sits, outbending,
\nA wild pathetic grace,
\nA beauty strange, heart-rending,
\nUpon her hair and face.<\/p>\n

O spirit cries that sever
\nThe cricket’s level drone!
\nO to give o’er endeavor
\nAnd let love have its own!<\/p>\n

Within the mirrored bushes
\nThere wakes a little stir;
\nThe white-throat moves, and hushes
\nHer nestlings under her.<\/p>\n

Beneath, the lustrous river,
\nThe watchful sky o’erhead.
\nGod, God, that Thou should’st ever
