The Tempest<\/h2>\n

We were crowded in the cabin,
\nNot a soul would dare to sleep,
\nIt was midnight on the waters,
\nAnd a storm was on the deep.<\/p>\n

‘Tis a fearful thing in winter
\nTo be shattered in the blast,
\nAnd to hear the rattling trumpet
\nThunder, “Cut away the mast!”<\/p>\n

So we shuddered there in silence,
\nFor the stoutest held his breath,
\nWhile the hungry sea was roaring,
\nAnd the breakers talked with Death.<\/p>\n

As thus we sat in darkness,
\nEach one busy in his prayers,
\n“We are lost!” the captain shouted,
\nAs he staggered down the stairs.<\/p>\n

But his little daughter whispered,
\nAs she took his icy hand,
\n“Is not God upon the ocean,
