They come and go,<br \/>\nsinging in salted winds,<br \/>\nbreathing lavender and rose.<br \/>\nDo they notice the shadowed cloud?<br \/>\n\u201cThey say this house is cursed;\u201d<br \/>\nYet, I am the one who\u2019s cursed.<\/p>\n<p>Witness the distress of my face\u2014<br \/>\nstained-glass windows darkened with age,<br \/>\nmy gloomy clapboard sides. Hidden<br \/>\nin the wilting ferns, gripping me,<br \/>\nslowly strangling. This place once sheltered lives,<br \/>\nbound by the tales spun under my roof.<\/p>\n<p>Malevolence slithers down the seven gables,<br \/>\ncurling through chimneys, dead ashes,<br \/>\nto my solitary table\u2014waiting,<br \/>\nalways waiting.<\/p>\n<p>I drift in and out\u2014<br \/>\ncross the threshold\u2014don\u2019t mind my creaking floors,<br \/>\nmy weathered doors, decaying bricks\u2014<br \/>\n\u2014welcome to the dark\u2014embark.<br \/>\nThe candlelight flickers, shadows swirl\u2014<br \/>\ndo you sense the past pressing close?<\/p>\n<p>Nathaniel, are you there?<br \/>\nDid you feel the weight of guilt buried deep<br \/>\nbehind eyes<br \/>\nin portraits hung and framed?<br \/>\nOh, what these rooms have seen\u2014<br \/>\neach secret that\u2019s been lost<\/p>\n<p>like a witch<\/p>\n<p>in Salem, 1692<\/p>\n<p>I persist. I remain.<br \/>\nClimb my secluded staircase if you dare,<br \/>\nstains cling to every step.<br \/>\nIt\u2019s not the ghosts that haunt me here\u2014<br \/>\nit\u2019s the wallpaper tearing<br \/>\nlike a soul without adhesive.<\/p>\n<p>This house is more than wood and stone\u2014<br \/>\nit keeps the sins we thought were thrown<br \/>\naway. Yet here they linger, still alive.<br \/>\nAnd I?
