Crocuses<\/h2>\n

Knowing without having to be
\ntaught, that this is a time of
\nwaiting, too. There, settled on
\nthe rooftop, poised, a pair of
\nmagpies dreaming not of sorrow,
\nbut the spring that lies braced
\nbeneath frost caked, frozen soil,
\nsteadied before the easterly wind
\nagainst whose face we bend.
\nBroken? No, not broken yet, but
\nholding to the possibility of days
\ngentler than these, the glimpse,
\nunexpectedly, of crocuses breaking
\nthrough parched soil thirsty for
\ndreams of the season new.<\/p>\n

J.M. Summers was born and still lives in South Wales. Previous publication credits include Another Country from Gomer Press and various magazines \/ anthologies.
