Snug at the club two fathers sat,
\nGross, goggle-eyed, and full of chat.
\nOne of them said: “My eldest lad
\nWrites cheery letters from Bagdad.
\nBut Arthur’s getting all the fun
\nAt Arras with his nine-inch gun.”<\/p>\n

“Yes,” wheezed the other, “that’s the luck!
\nMy boy’s quite broken-hearted, stuck
\nIn England training all this year.
\nStill, if there’s truth in what we hear,
\nThe Huns intend to ask for more
\nBefore they bolt across the Rhine.”
