Author Bio

They called me `an old soul” when I was a very young child. While I don’t know about that, I certainly wasn’t typical. Raised in a devout Catholic family, I sought answers to worldly questions through my religion by the time I was 5. Unfortunately, what I was taught conflicted greatly with what I experienced. As a result I was plagued by angst about who my Creator was and what possible purpose my life and this world could have. But I was also hard working and I buried myself in a career that while never satisfying my spiritual questions provided a handy distraction through volume of time required. Life events provoked more seeking as I approached my thirties. I doubt that was an accident. Nor was the sudden thought I had one night that I should read `A Course in Miracles’. Although I had heard of it I didn’t know what it was, or what it said. I did know that it was a book. Having read it, numerous times now, I can say that it’s definitely not for everyone. It was most definitely for me. Every question I had that could not be answered was answered in those pages. Initially, I couldn’t remember what I had read once I closed the book, but while I was reading it I simply knew at a level beyond words that I was experiencing the Truth at last. Those Truths have reformed and informed my view of this world, my life and purpose. I have been freed.

The genre has gotten cliche, sappy, repetitive and distant. But here Sanborn has broken new ground. Her selections and writings are direct, fresh, touching and useful. She avoids the pedantic pitfalls of most meditation books; the entries are both concise and thoughtful. Just the right touch to start or restart my day.”

Allow this book to give you a few moments each morning to enjoy a new perspective on anger, fear, forgiveness and Love. The detailed index will also allow you to search for reflections on specific topics when the need arises.

Book excerpt

Introduction:

Dear Readers:

Let me start by saying that although this composition of words is mine, the ideas are not.

They come from a childhood that made me a seeker at a very young age. After having an unsatisfying religious upbringing, I found a spiritual home as a student of A Course in Miracles (ACIM) almost 20 years ago.

Although this book contains some quotes that would be considered purely inspirational, it’s really written for those who have a desire for helpful reminders on their path to fully awakening spiritually. The book comes from elaborating on free quotes I tweet and email daily to people who have chosen to follow them. If you would like more, my twitter handle is @Ifuthink and my website is www.ifuthink.com. (In order to get quotes with the expanded discussion you must sign up for daily emails at the website.)

Although my beliefs are largely in line with the teachings of ACIM, one thing I love about The Course is that it directly espouses the belief that there is no one path to God. I believe that and fully honor each individual’s path, whether religious, spiritual or fully secular.

In that vein, although I personally use the term “God”, I have written the quotes referring to a divine Source as “Creator” in nearly every case. If you have a specific belief or term that you use to refer to your Source, feel free to substitute it. I think the only group for whom this entire quote book would be indigestible would be those who do not believe there is a Creator of some kind.

I do refer to this world as “not your home”. I also talk about your belief in yourself in a human form as your “Ego”. I talk about our Creator as eternal Love.

After some debate, the quotes have been organized by day (Day 1, Day 2) instead of date (January 1, January 2). That’s because a modest effort has been made to organize the quotes in a spiritual progression, from easiest to embrace and incorporate, to the hardest. If you use this book in Kindle format, you can easily hop back each day to the last page read to see the next quote. In paper format you will need a dreaded, old-fashioned bookmark.

I hope you find some words to support and encourage you on your path. I honor your seeking and join you in the search.

Much Love,

Margaret Curley Sanborn

1. Release those who harm you to spiritual forces that know better than you. Use your energy to Love yourself instead.

The energy you spend thinking, analyzing and strategizing about those who have harmed you is wasted. You don’t know their truth. Spend your time and energy on Love. Begin with yourself. When you hurt, that is the answer. You hold your own key.

2. Are you serious a lot? Give yourself permission to be seriously happy! Joy is your spiritual birthright. You were made with Joy by Love.

Being alive spiritually doesn’t mean being serious or sour. Your Soul is made of Love and knows only Joy and Peace. Being alive spiritually means remembering a place where Love and Joy have no opposite.

3. Do you want a real end to a conflict or do you simply want the world to be the way you prefer? Forgive. Start with yourself.

Are you right and someone else wrong? Unless we come from Love, which is our Source, we are all selfish. Whether the real motive is obvious or hidden, we are all feeding our Ego. Some of us make it look prettier. Don’t judge. You are equally guilty. Come from eternal Love and you will not be hurt.

4. All power is yours when you do not see yourself as victim. Choose to Love and move on.

Your Ego sees power in being a victim. As a victim, all guilt is assigned to others while you remain innocent. No Ego is wholly innocent and our power lies in claiming who we really are. You are eternal Love. No one, nothing, can hurt what you are in Truth. You can never truly be harmed. Choose Love and know your Truth. That power will free you.
