Author Bio

My writing is about personal struggles (just ordinary, everyday struggles).

You see, I’ve probably wasted more money than most people! On make-money products, health programs, marketing tools and diet tips. I start a program, get distracted, bored or make a lousy effort and think the program is no good. I’ve been to real estate, marketing and business opportunity seminars, had gym memberships and joined sporting clubs and while I thoroughly enjoy things at the time they all end up the same way… unfinished or potential unfulfilled.

I’ve had rollercoaster relationships with people and my credit cards. Borrowed from the mortgage and extended myself for something that was just an emotional purpose anyway. Had, what I thought would be, true and lasting relationships blow up or fade to nothing for senseless or trivial reasons.

And I never sensed they were all connected, I couldn’t see that how I deal with my finances is like how I treat my relationships or how I handle my weight is the same way as how I deal with stresses. And I also never realised that there was one common factor linking them all… ME!

And along with all this there were still the nagging questions “Who am i? Is this all I am, all I can be? Or am I here on this earth to do more? Can I be successful, can I be rich and powerful… can I be a better me?”

So i started to explore further, look deeper.. to question myself and seek truth.

I would deliberately slow down, meditate, use isolation so I could have even a brief moment to think. I allowed my inner voice to be heard. The inspirational thoughts not influenced by ego, fear or desire.

And I began to write… More searching, more discovery followed by more writing.

That writing led to a book.

Book excerpt

Why Are You Here?

I won’t tell you what to do.

I don’t know who you are, what location you live in or you’re current life situation. So for me to make any sort of suggestion or statements about what you need to do in your life would be somewhat presumptuous on my part.

And a lot of that has to do with how your particular mind was conditioned or programmed. What type of life experiences you have had, what you were told by significant people in your life or what you can remember.

I’ll just tell you a story. A personal story about a time I went to a seminar.

I was sitting in an auditorium at a business-marketing seminar listening to an introduction by one of the many speakers when I was jolted to attention by the following sentence:

“It’s a proven fact, 95% of you won’t take any action on what you learn here, achieve something significant or even make an effort that lasts past the first week… Will that be you?” and after a sufficient pause she went on to say “or will you be part of the 5% that succeed?”

Nothing like a challenge to get my attention and apparently it got a lot of others to notice as well with a number of high spirited “yes!” calls coming from around the room.

So armed with my new found knowledge, I started the next week after the seminar with high expectations, high hopes and the resolve that “this time I will see it through!”

By the end of the first week I had made good progress. Week two comes along and occasionally I had “good” excuses to skip a process or leave a job incomplete. Week three would see me dividing my time between my new project and some other “important” task.

By the fourth week my new project was being swamped by my current lifestyle and circumstances and was destined to end up on the ‘shelf of good intentions’.

A few weeks later I walked into the study looking for my keys when I lifted up a piece of paper with some notes from my new project. That’s’ when it hit me like a tonne of bricks “Damn… I’m one of the 95%!”

Not for want of good intentions, not for lack of trying (at least initially), but unfortunately for me I had to admit that the speaker was right.

At this point in time it’s usually easier to blame someone else when you fall short or give up on a goal. What would I usually say to excuse it? “I was ripped off by the one who sold me the information… I’m too busy to diet… if they don’t call me then we don’t need to stay as friends… another serving of cake won’t hurt, I can run it off tomorrow”. But this had happened one too many times and the pattern was the same in a lot of things I did.

The pattern… my pattern was evident in a number of areas of my life. My health, my weight, my relationships and this time (like many before) my financial and business opportunities.

I had to stop playing the blame game and look at the one common denominator:

I knew I needed to work on ‘me’
