Admiral of the Space Fleet and professional procrastinator. Faithful friend to Kingdom Brock. Enjoys worrying, complaining about his health and avoiding any potential world threatening situation. He does not go out much.<\/p>\n
Kingdom Brock<\/p>\n
Otherwise known as Captain Brock: Space Badger. He relishes danger like a gherkin on a cheeseburger. A natural born leader and everybody’s hero, he possibly goes out a little too much.<\/p>\n
Saviour of Urth, all round good guy. He has a lot of luck, but as Kingdom says, he makes his own. Delivery Badger, entrepreneur, raconteur, hero, saviour of mankind ( on more than one occasion), all round intergalactic hero. You may not have heard of him. You may not like him. You may not even believe in him. However you are only here because of him.<\/p>\n
This is their first writing collaboration. Inspired by a gentlemen’s walking expedition to the English alps in the spring of 1999.<\/p>\n
Captain Brock: Space Badger is not a self help book.<\/p>\n
It is a light hearted epic tale set in outer space in an alternate galaxy, focusing on the exploits of Kingdom Brock. Jettisoned into the limelight, he begrudgingly turns his back on his reclusive life as a freelance Space Captain to bravely take on an evil and particularly slimy race of slugs hell bent on destroying the planet Urth!<\/p>\n
Armed with only his dry wit and driving a number of unspace worthy vehicles of questionable service history, Brock manoeuvres his way through a series of totally impossible adventures. As<\/p>\n
Brock would say, \u201cIf it\u2019s not impossible it\u2019s not worth doing\u201d.<\/p>\n
Though he would never admit it, Kingdom Brock is helped along the way by an assortment of colleagues. These include his son: Finn Brock, a badger with blonde hair who Urth girls find irresistible; Honey, his faithful on board computer, a downloadable genius with a big memory and an even bigger personality. Other notable characters include: a giant dog with flammable drool, a beautiful princess with ginger hair, a slug in a snazzy suit and a despotic evil emperor who was clearly dropped on his head as a baby.<\/p>\n
This book has it all: good guys, bad guys, action, intrigue, slime, betrayal and a mid life crisis. There are car chases, daring rescues, touching reunions, witty dialogue and footnotes. It contains three stories: ‘In space no one can hear you scratch’, ‘The Slugpire Scratches Back’ and ‘The Search for Brock’. Released on Kindle, Captain Brock: Space Badger is set to become a furry sensation, all discerning people must read.<\/p>\n
Somewhere in the space time continuum, at a specific point and in relation to that point, sometime before it.<\/p>\n
Sergeant DeFra was a mean looking man. He had a nasty scar on his face, an eye patch and a hook where one of his hands should have been.<\/p>\n
He hated badgers, which was unfortunate for Kingdom Brock, because he was one. He also hated men who hung out with badgers. This was unfortunate for Brock\u2019s friend Des Monceaux. He was half human on his mother\u2019s side but he might as well have been a Slug as far as DeFra was concerned.<\/p>\n
The two young pilots had been summoned to DeFra\u2019s office for a dressing down.<\/p>\n
\u201cRight you, two miserable space cadets,\u201d said Sgt DeFra, sounding angry. \u201cI\u2019ve had enough of your general incompetence.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cYou leave the General out of this,\u201d said Brock. \u201cHe\u2019s a good man!\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cErr Kingdom, I don\u2019t think he means that General,\u201d said Monceaux sheepishly.<\/p>\n
\u201cThat\u2019s it Brock, I\u2019ve heard one too many of your comments. Pack your things Mister, your big furry ass is fired from Space Academy!\u201d said Sgt DeFra looking pleased with himself.<\/p>\n
\u201cFair enough,\u201d said Brock. \u201cI\u2019m going freelance, I can earn more bucks flying space cars anyway. But just you remember, one day the Urth may be in trouble and need my help and when it does: I might be busy elsewhere!\u201d<\/p>\n
With that Brock proudly flicked his tail, turned round and walked away. His days in the SAS (Space Air Service) were over. From now on he was going to be Captain of his own destiny and become known in the Space Times Free-Ads as Captain Brock: Space Badger!<\/p>\n
When he reached the door of DeFra\u2019s office, he turned to Monceaux.<\/p>\n
\u201cYou coming Des?\u201d he asked.<\/p>\n
\u201cErr, thanks Kingdom, but no,\u201d answered Monceaux. \u201cI\u2019m going career, officer class all the way! Besides, the health insurance is good here.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cOutstanding attitude,\u201d interjected Sgt DeFra. \u201cYou\u2019ll make Admiral one day boy. Now go and clean the toilets out!\u201d<\/p>\n
There were only a few things DeFra liked. Sycophants, clean toilets and as irrelevant as it may seem at this point in the story, vintage radios.<\/p>\n
The present (not our present; theirs)<\/p>\n
\u201cBEEP, BEEP!\u201d<\/p>\n
The alarm had been sounding for several minutes but warm inside his makeshift den, Captain Kingdom Brock: Space Badger, slept like a little cub snoring peacefully. He was blissfully unaware that his onboard computer was desperately trying to wake him.<\/p>\n
\u201cCAPTAIN BROCK TO THE BRIDGE IMMEDIATELY!\u201d<\/p>\n
The sound was deafening. It was a female voice, chosen specifically by Brock to get his attention.<\/p>\n
Brock stirred briefly, scratched himself and started snoring again.<\/p>\n
