Adam seemed to falter, mumbling some of the lyrics as though he couldn’t remember the words and, from her vantage point, Pixie saw that he was sweating profusely and his hands were shaking on the microphone stand.<\/p>\n
She looked around her but nobody seemed to have noticed anything – the beer drinking potential boyfriend was still dancing on the spot, holding his half-empty plastic cup high above his head to prevent it being spilled. Suddenly, she realised that Adam had stopped singing, looking back at the stage she saw that his band-mates were staring at him with exasperation, apart from Ahmed who began to approach Adam with a look of concern on his handsome face then, as though in a dream, Adam’s blue eyes scanned the crowd and, just like in her fantasy, locked onto Pixie’s. For the longest moment, she couldn’t move or breathe as she met his gaze, so drunk in the moment that at first she simply couldn’t comprehend it when she saw the gun in his hand, then it was as though a huge rough hand grabbed her shoulder, shoving her violently backwards and then she was on the floor. A smaller, more mortal hand reached for her and her last thought was that the bouncers had finally come to take her backstage to her Adam.<\/p>\n
