Hi, I am Simon Geddes, a Christian family man committed to spreading the Word of God and outwardly displaying the unconditional love of Christ through personal contact with the aged, the impoverished and the imprisoned.

The promotion of destructive lifestyles, unhealthy relationships and poor role models, are placing men under increasing pressure to abandon traditional values and skills. Following my calling, I am a published author and itinerant speaker offering support, training and seminars to encourage and equip Christians to get closer to God, and prevail in a fallen world.

Description

From the writer of “Porn Kills”, “Inside Islam” and “Two Trees” comes the second edition of his much-loved work, “Fear Not”. Written as an encouragement to those Christians who live in a fallen world, this booklet provides an enlightening view on the nature of God and His relationship with us.

“The more missionary work I get involved in personally”, says author Simon D. Looking more closely at His Word I have found 15 major reasons why we should ‘fear not’.”

So, when you feel a little worse for wear, take some time out of the battle, lick your wounds, and read a few pages of this booklet. An unpleasant emotion caused by the threat of danger, pain, or harm:
1.1 A feeling of anxiety concerning the outcome of something or the safety of someone:
1.2 The likelihood of something unwelcome happening:”[1]

Walking on the Water

Immediately He made the disciples get into the boat and go ahead of Him to the other side, while He dismissed the crowds. After dismissing the crowds, He went up on the mountain by Himself to pray. When evening came, He was there alone. But the boat was already over a mile from land, battered by the waves, because the wind was against them. Around three in the morning, He came toward them walking on the sea. When the disciples saw Him walking on the sea, they were terrified. “It’s a ghost!” they said, and cried out in fear.

Immediately Jesus spoke to them. “Have courage! It is I. Don’t be afraid.”

“Lord, if it’s You,” Peter answered Him, “command me to come to You on the water.”

“Come!” He said.

And climbing out of the boat, Peter started walking on the water and came toward Jesus. But when he saw the strength of the wind, he was afraid. And beginning to sink he cried out, “Lord, save me!”

Immediately Jesus reached out His hand, caught hold of him, and said to him, “You of little faith, why did you doubt?” When they got into the boat, the wind ceased. Then those in the boat worshiped Him and said, “Truly You are the Son of God!”

– Matthew 14:22-33 (HCSB).

Here is a classic illustration of God’s commandment to Fear Not. For a Christian, fear is not just ‘an unpleasant emotion caused by the threat of danger, pain, or harm’, nor is it the opposite of faith. Fear is faith; just not in God, but rather faith in things not of God.

You see Peter could walk on the water because he had faith in Jesus. While he was looking at Jesus he was in fellowship with God: he was with Jesus and Jesus was with him and through Him all things are possible. But when he stopped looking at Jesus; he broke that fellowship. He began to look at his circumstances rather than focusing on Jesus. His faith turned from Jesus to the world. His faith in the world (that it was able to take his life) became stronger than his faith in Jesus (that Jesus was life and life abundant) and he began to sink.

He cried out to Jesus, and Jesus being all-sufficient pulled Peter from the water. This is God’s grace: that even though we break fellowship with God (are separated from Him) He comes to us and saves us.

Fear is the belief in things or outcomes unseen that are, or will be, to our detriment. Faith, for a Christian, is the belief in our Lord Christ Jesus and that through Him all things come together for our good. This is why God commands us to ‘Fear Not’: because our faith should be in Him, not in the world.

The more missionary work I get involved in personally, the more I realise the scale of the battle we face. Yet throughout His Word God has said ‘Fear Not’. This booklet is a light read exploring ‘Fear Not’ in a systematic theological style. Through this I have found 15 major Biblical reasons why we should ‘Fear Not’”.

So when the world seems a little more real than Jesus, and circumstances begin to take hold of you, take some time out of the battle, lick your wounds, and read a few more pages of this booklet.
