Slowing to Park by Chris Martin<\/h1>\n

In her car, on the way to the court house she said, “Maybe I could call Sally. It would be nice to have Sally with me. She wouldn’t tell anyone.”<\/p>\n

He didn’t look at her. He kept his hands on the steering wheel and looked for a parking place.<\/p>\n

While he backed into a spot, she said, “It wouldn?t take any time at all. She could be out here before we knew it.”<\/p>\n

He put the car in park. It sputtered for a second after he turned off the key. “We don’t need Sally,” he said. “We’ve got each other.” Her hands were folded in her lap. He covered her hands with his hand.<\/p>\n

“We’ve got each other,” she said and nodded. She looked at him.<\/p>\n

He got out of the car, leaned in the open door and said, “Don’t forget to lock it, when you get out.”<\/p>\n
