How Much Food Do You Need?<\/h1>\n

The spaghetti dropped onto the table with a fierce plop. Bob blinked.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cAlmost all of it got on the plate,\u201d the waitress said. .<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Bob looked down and nodded. \u201cWell, almost.\u201d<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cThat\u2019s enough, I\u2019d say.\u201d<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cI did order a full plate.\u201d<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cI told you, almost all of it.\u201d She scooped up a few tendrils of spaghetti. They made a less fierce plop on the edge of the plate.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Bob frowned.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s not as if I spilled it on the floor. It\u2019s just on the table and some of it\u2019s on the seat and the side of the table and the side of the seat. None of it\u2019s on the floor, if that\u2019s what you\u2019re worried about. And we clean our tables. And our seats. If that\u2019s what you\u2019re worried about.\u201d<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cThat\u2019s not what I\u2019m worried about.\u201d<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cI wash my hands, if that\u2019s what you\u2019re worried about. Everyone washes their hands here, when they can. Sometimes. If that\u2019s what you\u2019re worried about.\u201d<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Bob frowned.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cHow much food do you need, anyway?\u201d The waitress eyed Bob. \u201cI mean, if I\u2019m being honest, you might want to slow down a little there, tubs.\u201d <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Bob frowned.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cSave some for the rest of us, if you know what I mean.\u201d<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Bob frowned.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cYou should let only almost all of your food get on the plate a little more often, buddy.\u201d<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Bob frowned.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cYou\u2019re a little fat.\u201d<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cI just wanted a plate of spaghetti.\u201d<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cAnd you got one.\u201d She pointed at the plate. \u201cHere\u2019s a plate.\u201d She pointed at the spaghetti. \u201cHere\u2019s spaghetti.\u201d She pointed at Bob. \u201cHow much food do you need, lard-o?\u201d<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cJust my fair share.\u201d<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019d say you\u2019ve had more than your fair share long enough, rotund.\u201d The waitress picked up the few tendrils of spaghetti she had moved from the table to Bob\u2019s plate and deposited them into her apron pocket. She pointed at the remaining spaghetti. \u201cEat that and like it.\u201d<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Bob ate it, but he didn\u2019t like it.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n
