Lesson 1 how to get inspiration. The first step in writing and creating is inspiration. If you hope to create something, try these first. This week, do one of these. Do one that is outside your comfort zone:

  1. People watch – Observe interesting people in public places and imagine their stories. Great for character development.
  2. Travel somewhere new – Explore a place you’ve never been. New sights and perspective spur creativity.
  3. Read novels outside your genre – Stepping outside your normal reads sparks new ideas.
  4. Take a writing class – Learning new skills and discussing work with others inspires.
  5. Go for nature walks – Time spent outdoors clears your head and boosts imagination.
  6. Listen to music – Find new artists and genres. Lyrics can provide writing prompts.
  7. Research topics that fascinate you – Immersing yourself in knowledge inspires creativity.
  8. Visit museums and art galleries – Visual arts engage your imagination in new ways.
  9. Try journaling and freewriting – Write freely without censoring to tap your inner creativity.
