Author Bio
J.L. Clark began her writing career in the fifth grade, when her teacher took the detective story she wrote for class and turned it into a small book as a gift to her. The encouragement of her teacher, as well as her love for telling stories, kept her writing about the worlds that existed in her imagination.
J.L. now lives with her husband and three dogs in Houston, Texas, and stays busy during the day working as a physician. In the evenings, her storytelling alter ego takes over, and she writes furiously in hopes of sharing the magic of reading a great book with others.

Book excerpt
A low hum permeates the dark room, a bluish hue emitting from the only source of light that can be found. A large oval object sits in the center of the space, its surface glimmering and reflecting ribbons of light across all the walls. The hum begins to get louder as a door is opened, and a figure enters, almost floating across the floor. The entrance closes silently behind the tall and slender blonde woman as she places a hand gently on the object, just as ripples begin stretching across the liquid surface. She stares quietly into it as she runs her hand across the top in a slow back and forth motion, uttering an incantation.
“Respice, adspice, prospice. Look to the past, the present, the future. Show me what it is I seek.”
Soon, images begin to appear, and the woman stares intently, as if memorizing each and every detail of the events that unfold in front of her eyes. When the pictures begin to fade, a small smile unfolds across her face.
“Our wait has not been in vain. The prophecy will soon be fulfilled.”
Quickly, she turns and leaves the room, her long white gown fluttering behind her. The room becomes dark once again, and the hum dissipates into silence.
