Book excerpt
After almost ten minutes of walking they were nearing the housing area of the campus. Victer felt like they were being followed but didn’t want to scare Sina. He spied a look with each turn, without letting on to the person following them that he knew.
He said “Sina my love, I have a great idea. I’m going to get a surprise for you at that general store, you know the one a few blocks from here. I want you to go inside and get a nice hot bath ready for the two of us. Or should I say have your servant get the bath ready for us. What do you say?”
“I like the idea, hurry up” she said, and kissed him on the lips. She walked towards her house which could be seen from where they were.
Victer turned back and now looking right at the fellow that he noticed was following him and Sina. He thought of what the Allfather warned earlier. The person following him was a tall man and looked like he was in decent shape. He was about fifty feet from Victer when Victer decided to take action, against the wishes of the Allfather.
The two walked closer to each other until they were close enough to speak. The man took out a knife about half a foot long. He said to Victer “Now you’re going to die” as he lunged at Victer, Victer countered the attackers’ thrust with an even bigger knife from a hidden sheath beneath his shirt that he pulled out at just the right time. Victer rolled to the right while the attacker was cut on his arm that was holding the knife. Poor bastard was a bleeder.
Victer jumped up fast from the roll out and then held his knife out pointing at the assailant’s head and said “Don’t threaten me with a good time. Bring it on”
Those were the last words that the assassin would ever hear before having his throat cut from ear to ear by Victer, who left the body where it fell.
Victer was a little late making his way back to her house, but he told Sina he just couldn’t decide on what to bring her. He wrote a note to the Allfather and had her servant bring it to him to notify him of what happened. He didn’t want to worry Sina and kept the attack to himself. It is truly difficult to buy a gift for a woman who has lived her life in wealth. Victer thought about that and ended up bringing to her home one roll of red ribbon as his gift. When she asked about her gift, he took off his clothes and wrapped the ribbon around his body and told her to unwrap him.
