Can you be sued for using a person's first name if they are dead? I am doing my final edit and I need to know if anonymity is required for those who have passed on . . .

The law is very murky, so it is difficult to answer this question. If you use someone's likeness you can get into trouble. I mean, if a person opens your book and goes "Hey that's me," you might have a fight on your hands. I'm not an expert at law. They can sue you for just about anything, so the answer to your question is both yes and no. Do you mean will they win if they sue you? I have no idea. I think you want to consult an expert like a publishing house lawyer or just a lawyer that you hire.
