    Come to Papa
I didn’t fear death. In fact, I looked forward to joining my universal family as my Hopi grandfather said I would. I walked into the desert, sat down and waited. Then a silver disc appeared in the sky. My heart pounded when it beckoned, “Come to Papa.”

I was dog walking, admiring the view from Beachy Head Cliffs. A grey skinned stranger with a ray gun approached.
‘I spearhead the invasion. Unknown worlds are valuable to Arcturus. Take me to your leader.’
The idiot spoke to my dog, ignored me. I kicked him over the edge.

The flying saucer wobbled on landing, its green occupant approached.
His right tentacle held a metallic object possibly a weapon, his left a book. Was this invasion, was Earth to die?
He consulted the book, raised that right tentacle, I cringed, he said,
    ‘Can I borrow a spanner?’

On my first archaeological dig I unearthed a dinosaur skull, small, complete, somehow intelligent looking. Dropping my trowel I stared. It had a gold filling in a front incisor. Forgery! Fake! Fraud! they would scream at me. I filled in the hole and looked elsewhere.

    What in the world ?

That’s was my last thoughts exactly, On that night as I walking out to my car . When I saw the flashing lights ,that was brighter than lightening. But it wasn’t lightning because there wasn’t thunder. But an odd sound that I have never heard before.. Louder than a freight train . And then I felt myself being elevated up off the ground.

I follow my fisherman buddy’s gaze to spy a starlike object zigzagging the dark night sky.

    Then, it stops.

A black beam reaches down touching the tip of Australia’s tallest flagpole. It blots a well-lit Southern Cross on our national flag.

    Beer in hand, I laugh.

    “We’re fishing at Settlement Shores.”

Simon knew the risks of cloning. He knew that playing God was a risky affair.
    “Simon, do not do this”

Now it is too late. She wants to kill him. Blood is on the front of her dress; her normally sweet smile is wicked.
    “Where is Ruby?”
    “She’s sleeping now”

The green pickup truck sat empty in the middle of the road. The keys were still in the ignition. Later, when Bob would recount his story he’d say he only remembered seeing a white light before blacking out. He didn’t know how he’d ended up in the bar hours later.

They almost got me, in Central Park. They got families standing nearby.
I had gone under a shady tree, while drinking my Coke Zero.
After hearing screams, I turned and watched sparkling beams pulling people upwards.
    The stench was horrific!
Loosened my leather belt, tied it to the tree, prayed.

It was an anniversary gift and the trip of a lifetime. Economy class. Four star accommodations and breakfast included.
Shocked when first seeing the saucer shaped object in the Air Force hangar and the pilot with green skin, Estelle shrugged.
    “Que sera sera!”
It would be a holiday, nonetheless!

As the astronaut gazed out the window at the alien planet below, a strange feeling overcame her. Suddenly, she realized that she wasn’t just observing the world – she was connected to it. She closed her eyes and felt the pulsing energy of the planet flow through her, and she knew that nothing would ever be the same.

Alan gasped. His ship was a klick away. His suit was out of air, fuel, and power. Panicked, he kicked off into the empty silent dark.

His vision dimmed as it grew closer. 10 meters… 5… flailing, his hand struck metal. Blind, he desperately yanked at the door….

    And slipped.

Zorak’a hide! You’re too visible. On a field trip to this planet last month one of our student ships was tracked by a primitive aircraft! A navigator trainee must always remain undetectable to the locals.

The metallic sphere executed a series of spiral maneuvers as it ascended into thick clouds.

    In this clean climate future.
Time travel is what some like to say,
    is a common comical conveyance.
    To many people find themselves
    in embarrassing situations.
Time Travel is a commodity sold like air fare.
Now that people have flying cars,
with the new safe and smart technologies,
    Clean air is a standard.

Green and blue make teal. But heredity does not explain how I got that weird eye-colour in just one eye, not both. Neither of my parents had brown eyes, and yet, my right eye was brown. It is this eye that has x-ray vision; the teal eye sees the future.

Taylor immediately regretted igniting the skaarsgard-fischer device. In his panic he may have begun the destruction of all life in the universe. The quantum fissure had started as a pinprick, but was widening quickly.
Then a pinpoint Nerf dart from his brother hit him in the head. “Game over, man!”

My mother is dying. The sun sets as I travel to her. On the eight-hour road trip, I’m guided by the universe, with the moon and stars lighting the way. Deer watch from the side of the road. A UFO appears, gliding parallel to my car for the final approach.

The Brocabox worked far better than the brzillion devices that preceded it, litters of foney cybergadgets claiming to transmute yips and ghrowls into sensible Planetarian, or the countless hailed-n-failed efforts to surgically, chemically, genetically re-wire canid brain bits into functional speech centers. Slick adversurances aside, the connections just weren’t there.

Getting off world in one piece was a challenge, managing helm control and the masking console single-handed, literally. Cloaking a ship to background was an art, even if you’re only avoiding a unidirectional sensor. Sneaking away from a well-defended planet required one person’s full attention, and all of his digits.

She booked a room on the ground floor corner, nearest the exit. After sweeping for surveilling eyes, ears, and noses, Bev positioned wavebuds at the corners of the window, eliminating external pick-ups, and overlaying the space with a null-image. The micro-phase field would disrupt any beamers pointed in their direction.

They had left a message; unfamiliar symbols were unveiled, and they frightened me. Strokes of command, curves of worry, and shapes of despair. It was a warning embodied with unworldly light, a warning that was angered with existence and millennia. It meant we are not alone and never were.

She knew he would. He’d hit her before. But there was a fury, an all-encompassing savagery in this attack. She felt no pain. She looked at him with calm serenity and bathed in a feeling of peaceful ambivalence. She wondered how she could stop this. And then his head exploded!

E’Lori scanned the latest survey report. “This makes grim reading” he said. “Yes” replied I’Nuri, “Now we must discover why they used such devastating weapons on each other. The atom should not be so lightly abused”. “Shame the experiment failed” sighed E’Lori. I’Nuri countered “There are survivors. The experiment continues…”
