Our Horrifying Halloween Horror Movie Night

Get ready for a night of terror and literary chills at our annual Halloween Horror Movie Night on October 31, 2024 at 9PM EST! This year, we’re combining cinematic scares with spine-tingling wordcraft – and we want you to join the conversation!

  • Date: Thursday, October 31, 2024
  • Time: 9:00 PM sharp
  • Feature Presentation: “Night of the Living Dead” (1968)
  • Tweet along: #WritersMovieNight
  • Link (coming soon)

We’re kicking off the night by announcing the winners of two bone-chilling contests:

  1. The October Horror Contest: Terrifying tales in just 50 words.
  2. The Horror Haiku Contest 2024: Terror in 17 syllables.

Prepare for goosebumps as we reveal the most spine-chilling entries. The winning pieces will be posted, setting the perfect mood for our evening of horror. Tweet your reactions using #WritersMovieNight!

Our feature presentation is the groundbreaking “Night of the Living Dead” (1968). This iconic film defined the modern zombie genre and serves as powerful social commentary. Experience the desperate struggle of survivors trapped in a farmhouse, fighting off hordes of the undead.

We’ll be using Watch2gether, allowing us to view the movie simultaneously while chatting. Share your reactions, discuss the film’s impact, and experience the terror as a community. Don’t worry if you’re not tech-savvy – we’ll provide easy instructions to ensure everyone can join.

Throughout the night, we encourage you to tweet your thoughts, reactions, and favorite moments using #WritersMovieNight. Our moderators will be highlighting the best tweets during our viewing!

Mark your calendars, perfect your zombie shuffle (costumes encouraged!), and prepare for a night of classic horror, literary frights, and communal scares. This event is perfect for horror buffs, aspiring writers, and anyone looking for a thrilling Halloween experience.

Secure your viewing area, stock up on snacks, and join us on October 31 at 9:00 PM for a Halloween Horror Movie Night that combines the power of words with the terror of the undead. Remember: “They’re coming to get you, Barbara!” – and they’re coming for your tweets too!

P.S. Don’t miss out on the frightful fun leading up to our big night! Keep an eye on our website throughout October for daily writing prompts to spark your inner horror author. Plus, join our virtual Halloween party happening all month long – featuring themed discussions, horror trivia, costume contests, and more spine-tingling activities. Share your spooky creations on social media with #WritersMovieNight all month long!
