Big List of Literary Magazine

Posted on March 25, 2015March 25, 2017 by Richard

We started the webs original big list of literary magazines all the way back in 1999. It’s how our site begin. Really! It was just a list of literary magazines that we had submitted to, and then it starting growing, became a project, became a publications, and now is one of the largest sites for publishers and writers on the web. We are so happy that you have come to find our Big List of literary magazines, we are not so happy that we had to change our list. We have over 1000 literary magazines on the list, but we are afraid they are somewhat outdated. There are broken links on the list. The list is so unmanageable. It’s hard to keep up with and it’s hard to do wide scale changes, but we didn’t want to take it down all together.

When we created this list, it was a very good idea for writers at the time to be able to look through a 1000s of listings at once. That was the easiest way to let writers see all the places they could submit there work. Now we have seachable literary magazine listings. You don’t have to go through a long list of literary magazines to find what you are looking for. Also, we have found that people have copied this list to no end. You will see improved lists of these listings or even purely copied lists. We don’t want to be copied.

Lastly the list is getting to be out of date. We had some broken links, we had sites listed that are no longer literary magazines. We want to address these on our site.

If you want a long list of literary magazines please go to our EWR: Literary Magazine listings for All. We recommend that you use our browse and search feature on our site EWR Literary Magazines Search.

Now a Big List of Literary Magazines (2000) or so should helpful, it needs to be useful, and it needs to be easily loadable. Some writers still love this list, and we didn’t want to take it away completely, so we are giving it to you in a PDF format. The reason we are doing this is to make it easier for you to use. The links are still clickable, and we feel that it is a little more scholarly to use for reference. Also, it is FREE, and you don’t have to sign up for anything. Just click the link.

We hope to dress this list up eventually, give you pictures and more information, for now, it is what it has always been, a Big List of Literary Magazines.
