Daily high school writing prompts

Daily writing prompts for high school

High School students are usually just getting started in their writing. They need help but only sometimes want a creative prompt. Sometimes you want to write about real things in the world. High school students are also usually more excited when a topic relates to them or their emotions. The writing prompts below are designed for high school students. They are a range of creative to the real world to connecting with emotions designed to keep high school students interested. Check back each day for a new prompt.

Teachers sometimes have issues with coming up with new writing prompts during busy times; please feel free to use these in your classroom. I have used some of these with my classes and tried to pick ones that generated good responses.

There are three reasons I give daily writing prompts in my classroom.

  1. It’s great for bell work
  2. It gets students ready to learn
  3. It generates discussions

We have many other lists of writing prompts to pick from. If you have a comment, please leave it below.
