    From the Editor

Glintmoon is an online quarterly, founded and edited by Mitchell Hart, dedicated to publishing diverse, innovative poetry of ten lines or fewer. We accept submissions year-round on a rolling basis and publish in February, May, August, and November.

We are passionate believers in the value of the short poem, and we wish to see its boundaries explored and expanded in a venue all its own. For us, the short form isn’t so much about brevity as it is about respecting things unsaid. We feel that this distinctive quality of the short form allows its margins to speak as vibrantly as its center. The meanings of the short poem hover in the liminal spaces between what is said and what is not, between what is supplied and what the reader themself brings. The poems we publish may be small, but what they conjure expands far beyond their few lines. We believe that short poetry needn’t be short-lived, that brief poems can be all things but briefly remembered.

We are particularly devoted to presenting a diversity of voices and seek to celebrate work by poets who identify as women, BIPOC, LGBTQIA+, disabled, neurodivergent, and/or any other traditionally marginalized identity. We are especially interested in seeing work that considers race, ethnicity, gender, sexuality, identity (multicultural, religious, etc.), and disability in original and meaningful ways. We strive to showcase poetry that comes from lived experience, that concerns itself with the day-to-day intersections of identity, that centers a strong sense of emotion, perspective, and language.

Our name, Glintmoon, comes from what we see as the moonlight’s unique ability to cause any and every reflective thing it touches to shine with a special brightness in the dark. We hope that the poems in our issues will function similarly for our readers, providing glints of the moon even when things in the world seem to be at their darkest.

    Submissions

Glintmoon exclusively publishes poems of ten (10) lines or fewer. We will consider any and all poetry that follows this one rule. However, it must be said that we are not partial to traditional forms, such as the haiku or the tanka, nor do we particularly enjoy rhymed or metred work. This doesn’t mean that we’re not looking for poems of three or five lines. In fact, we would absolutely love to read three and five line poems. We simply aren’t interested in many of the structures and intentions behind traditional forms.

We are a diversity-oriented publication and encourage submissions from underrepresented voices. In particular, we’re looking for work that considers race, ethnicity, gender, sexuality, identity, and disability in relevant and novel ways. We want to see fervent, unorthodox poetry that stretches and reimagines what the short form is and what it can do. Give us life and depth, the human and the now.

We accept submissions year-round on a rolling basis. We only accept electronic submissions, and those solely via email. We do accept simultaneous submissions but not unsolicited reprints. We do our best to respond to every submission within two weeks. We pay $5 per poem. Please see our submission guidelines for full instructions on how to submit.
