About 3Elements Literary Review
3Elements Literary Review is an independent quarterly digital journal built around a recurring creative challenge. For every issue, the editors announce three unrelated words or ideas. Writers must incorporate all three elements into their fiction, nonfiction, or poetry, while artists and photographers must visually represent at least one.
The format gives each issue a recognizable center without limiting contributors to a single genre, setting, or interpretation. The journal welcomes both established and emerging creators and favors writing with emotional force, distinctive characters, insight, and imaginative engagement with the assigned elements.

Regular deadlines are November 30 for winter, February 28 for spring, May 31 for summer, and August 31 for fall.
Submission Guidelines and Limits
Fiction and nonfiction must be under 3,500 words. Poetry must be under two typed pages. Literary submissions must use all three announced elements; art and photography need to depict at least one.
The journal accepts no more than two fiction submissions, two nonfiction submissions, three poetry submissions, three artwork submissions, and three photography submissions per reading period. Each piece must be uploaded as a separate submission rather than grouped into a single file.
Only previously unpublished work is eligible, including material that has not appeared online. Simultaneous submissions are welcome, provided the writer immediately withdraws work accepted elsewhere.

All work must be submitted through Submittable using the journal’s Submit page. Email submissions and work sent through the contact form are automatically declined.
