    From the Editor

Described by the National Collective as one “of the hottest literary journals” around, Far Off Places has expanded its remit of publishing poetry and short prose with its latest issue; Sartorial is the first issue of the magazine to contain work from dramatists and playwrights. Editor Annie Rutherford commented, “Though it sounds clichéd, Sartorial is genuinely the strongest issue we’ve published yet. We had a record number of submissions and were just overwhelmed by the quality of work. We’re ridiculously proud of the result.”

The fledgling literary magazine first launched in March 2013 and has enjoyed attention from many a writer and blogger overseas as well as the belletristic-minded right here at home. Every instalment of the publication has focussed on a particular theme to draw readers and writers in. Past examples have included re-imagined fairy tales and spooky stories from under the bed. Issue II Volume II is dedicated to works celebrating clothes, fashion and apparel. All are available to order at the website (http://faroffplaces.org) which also hosts a blog and updates about everything behind the scenes.

    Submissions

Far Off Places accepts poetry, short fiction and drama, as well as having contributions from various illustrators.

    Upcoming

Sartorial is the first issue of the magazine to enjoy its own dedicated launch. True to Far Off Places form, the event promises to be a whimsical affair. Live readings from contributors will be followed by a featured ‘clothes swap’, in which audience members and readers donate clothes they no longer wear and in return can take home someone else’s “pre-loved” garment .

I wish all the success of the magazine. I am a young poet from Bangladesh. I write poems both in English and Bengali, how can I submit my poem to publish in the magazine?
