    From the Editor

Broad Street is a nonprofit magazine based in Richmond, VA. We publish semi-anually, and aim to create a space to be enjoyed equally by longtime fans of creative nonfiction and those who are new to this exciting form. Broad Street publishes original true stories at the intersection of artistic expression: quality narratives in the form of creative research, prose, memoir, poetry, photography, or design—following an overarching theme. We publish professionals, as well as brand new voices and visionaries, exploring the ways stories can inform and inspire the world. We are now offering subscriptions of Broad Street. Subscriptions are per year, and include two issues for $14 (single issues may still be bought for $7.50). You may also purchase single issues or subscribe through Tell It Slant. Please check our website for more information on how to subscribe.

    Submissions

Broad Street seeks beautifully crafted narratives and artwork that present the truth in a way that’s new and special to readers. We feature big names and new names. We love to discover fresh talent. We are taking submissions through Tell It Slant. The submissions fee is $2.49. Tell it Slant, an independent submissions manager, charges a $1.50 fee per submission; the other 99 cents helps offset Broad Street’s costs for the editors to review and discuss your work. Please read our entire submission page before sending your work. Each issue runs through a new part of town, being loosely based on a theme that can be interpreted in several ways. Don’t be afraid to get creative in your approach to the theme. We will also assess the relevance of submissions to future themes but may not have determined the publication schedule for a particular future issue. If you are submitting for a theme, identify it in the subject line and/or cover letter of your entry. Themes and submission deadlines are listed on our website’s submission page.
