    From the Editor

Phree Write Magazine features writing that is daring, unique, relatable and, most importantly, understood by its readers.

We publish work that is powerful and extraordinary, literature and art that leaves an impression. Though there is much to appreciate in complex language and an immense vocabulary, Phree Write Magazine appreciates the beauty in simplicity. Our definition of high quality fiction is fiction that grabs readers by the shirt and doesn’t let go. Our mission is to publish work that has substance, creativity, and originality.

    Submissions

Phree Write Magazine is seeking submissions in fiction, flash fiction, poetry, thirty fiction (story told in thirty words no more no less), spoken word, and art. We are seeking submissions that are simple, powerful, and unique.

    Upcoming

Phirst Sentence Short Story Contest – Stories will begin with the first sentence provided. This piece should entice us, surprise us, make us laugh, make us cry, make us feel. Genre doesn’t matter, but the story does. Contest dates February 1, 2015 – April 30, 2015.

ARTiculate is an art and writing contest. This two-part competition will take place consecutively and will have two winners, one for art and one for writing.

ARTiculate is the art portion where artists in any medium creates a piece of art that tells a story without writing a word. Then, we want that piece of art to serve as a muse for an author to speak. We want you to get inspired to inspire someone else. A domino effect of creativity.

artICULATE (Creative Writing) is the writing portion of the competition. Create a piece of writing in any category (fiction, flash fiction, micro fiction, micro micro fiction, poetry, doesn’t matter) based off the winning art piece in the first half of ARTiculate. The art piece was the visual aspect, make your writing the mental and emotional. Have your story be the words the art can’t get out by itself. Be the artwork’s microphone. The writing piece should compliment the artwork and together the two should become one.
